The 4th Festivalle attracted more than 2,000 people to Vilanova de Arousa

The 4th Festivalle closed its doors with record attendance at its various activities, thus consolidating its position as a cultural benchmark not only in Galicia, but also in Spain. More than 2,000 people participated in some of the cultural events held in Vilanova de Arousa between 8 and 11 July. In addition to the theatrical performances themselves, the event included audiovisual screenings, a summer course and the presentation of the book “The Origins of Valle-Inclán” (Land, Lineage and Legend) by Dr Francisco Xavier Charlín.

This presentation, which took place at the Valle-Inclán House-Museum, was the perfect ending to an intense week of cultural activities. The work is the result of the author’s doctoral thesis, which was awarded a Cum Laude distinction by the University of A Coruña, and provides a rigorous reconstruction of the family, social and geographical environment that marked the youth of Ramón Mª del Valle-Inclán in Vilanova de Arousa. A publication that, in the words of the mayor of Vilanova, Gonzalo Durán, will become a reference point for the study of the exceptional writer born in the town.

The Valle-Inclán Auditorium hosted performances by the Madrid-based groups Teatro del Canal – Estival Producciones, with the play Los cuernos de Don Friolera, and Compañía Tribueña, which performed La rosa de papel and El embrujado. The big news at this fourth edition was the addition of film screenings, with two medium-length films offering new perspectives on Valle’s legacy in other cultural expressions, which were very well received by the audience.

If you missed it this year, remember that at the beginning of July, you have a date with theatre in Vilanova de Arousa!
