This route to the summit of Monte Lobeira offers you the possibility of learning about the various events that took place here throughout history. This site was chosen between the 11^th and 12^th centuries as the location of Lobeira Castle, where Queen Doña Urraca lived; its main objective was defensive. This fortress witnessed several clashes between the monarch and Archbishop Gelmírez. Once its defensive function was no longer necessary, the castle fell into abandonment and was finally destroyed during the Irmandiña uprisings int the 15^th century. Today, only a few vestiges of this construction remain.

In addition to immersing yourself in history, you can also enjoy the beautiful views that this walk features as you ascend to the Cruz de Lobeira Viewpoint, which marks the end of the route. From here you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Ría de Arousa and Val do Salnés.
